Veronica Estelita Burke
12 December 1941 - 25th April 2007
Age:65
Veronica Estelita Burke, affectionately known as “Vee” to her many friends was born in St Vincent & the Grenadines on the 12 December 1941.
Vee has always been wayward and was often found doing naughty things and was generally the ringleader for any mischief her and her cousins got into. She loved the beach and tending to the goats as a child
She attended Brighton Government School where she did very well before migrating to the UK in the early 60’s.
Once in the UK she trained as a nurse working with mental health patients. She worked in many establishments including the old Cane Hill Hospital.
Veronica devoted her life to her five children, she always encouraged her children to do well and excel in school. She had a mischievous personality and was well liked by many people for her love of life. She had a very dry sense of humour and loved to laugh. She liked to dress up and was always shopping for clothes (especially in Marks & Spencer). She liked to dance and was often the last one to leave the dance floor. She is fondly remembered by her children for her many sayings throughout their childhood, such as: `if you can’t hear you must feel’. In their teenage years the refrain was of: `this is not a hotel!!’ Her most common piece of advice to people was: “that you need to sort out yourself”, she would always have to have the last word.
She worked hard and following retirement, liked nothing more than to hang out with her grandchildren and watching her favourite soap’s (Emmerdale, Home & Away, and Coronation Street). You knew better than to phone Vee when they were on, as she would either not answer the phone or tell you that you had to ring back when they had finished. She liked to travel and went to the Caribbean and America on a regular basis.
She loved to clean and had lots of dustable objects for her children to look after!! Talking of dust there was never a spot of dust in the house as Vee was very house proud and everything was spotless!!!
She attended Grace Temple Ministry and gave her life to the Lord and always encouraged others to follow the Lord.
Rest in peace Veronica , your always remembered x
